Prabowo Laughs When Asked about Megawati's Fried Rice

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto arrived at the house of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 24.

The focal Gerindra figure arrived at 12:30 Indonesia Western Time (WIB) wearing his light-brown colored batik suit and black trousers. He was accompanied by Gerindra deputy Edhy Prabowo and secretary Ahmad Muzani.

Prabowo’s entourage was greeted by Megawati Soekarnoputri and her daughters; Puan Maharani and Prananda Prabowo, as well as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and PDIP secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto were also there to greet Prabowo.

Hasto mentioned that the meeting between the two was long overdue since Megawati talked about Prabowo irking her to fulfill her promise of cooking him one of his favorite dishes, fried rice (nasi goreng), during their encounter at a pencak silat venue in the Asian Games 2018 in August.

“Ever since, Pak Prabowo had actually asked for a meeting to be scheduled, that he misses Megawati’s cooking,” said Hasto at Megawati’s home.

Asked by journalists whether she would actually cook a dish for her former running mate in the 2009 presidential election, Megawati responded with a smile while Prabowo laughed out loud.

"Thank you," said Prabowo to the journalists as the entire group walked into the house.
